Move over Miss Moneypenny – the latest secret agent on the block is set to queer things up a little.
A new Hollywood movie project, ‘The Gay Detective’ has landed Brendan Fraser in the lead role. ‘Gay Secret Agent’ will be another twist on the classic 007 movies, with producers hoping to cash in on the huge box office successes of the Austin Powers series.
In an interview with Variety magazine, producer Jennifer Todd said
"He is the best secret agent in the world, and being gay helps him in the job, because he is charming and well- mannered, a great dancer and an impeccable dresser. Brendan met on the project and did the character in the room, and we were all very impressed. We are shooting for a very broad, silly comedy"
Brendan is no stranger to gay roles, having starred as the gay brother in ‘The Twilight Of The Golds’ with Faye Dunaway and as the object of Ian Mc Kellen’s affection in ‘Gods and Monsters’.
“I know many people believe I'm gay. I read it on the Internet. I'm not gay, but I'm flattered that I may be thought to be so. Most gays are immensely intelligent, creative and sensitive people. All attributes that I would hope I could ascribe to myself.”
