Some people think Leonardo DiCaprio has a face that deserves a good slap. Totty Watch thinks he has the face of an angel and would much rather slap other parts of his body. Leo might be a spoilt brat on occasion but we don't really care. Right now he's looking hot, hot, hot - and his acting isn't bad either – as his latest movie, the Howard Hughes biopic The Aviator, proves with some great naked shots caught on film!

Leo was nearly turned down for the part of Johnny Depp's autistic brother in What's Eating Gilbert Grape? because he was considered too good-looking. He went on to receive an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor and proved there was more to him than just a pretty face [we gay boys know all about that! Ed.].

With Gilbert Grape wooing the industry wrinklies, the MTV generation was quickly seduced by his role in Baz Luhrman's funky adaptation of Romeo + Juliet. His teen, heart-throb status was well and truly established and he quickly sailed away with the hearts and loins of every other man and woman over 19 with his fated, working class hero Jack in the mega successful Titanic, taking our hearts and lusts on and one and one.

Unfortunately his career took a downward dive with The Beach, although it was a great opportunity to ogle his swimming trunked body! Environmental organisations got their Y-fronts in a knot over reports that the filmmakers were abusing local vegetation and a $20 million paycheque for Leo when he was going through his real prima donna phase failed to endear his fans. Pictures of him looking unkempt and porky didn't help either and The Beach was critically pilloried and a financial disappointment.

"The last thing I want to turn into is a fat Hollywood jerk." You can't keep a good man down (no matter how hard you are, sorry, try) and Leo decided to hook up with two of the world's best directors and get his career back on track.

Steven Spielberg was first on the list and Leo gave an entertaining turn as a fraudster in Catch Me If You Can. Martin Scorsese was his next father figure and it was Robert De Niro who introduced him to Marty. Leo and Marty have been inseparable ever since, working on Gangs of New York together for what seemed like an eternity, the Howard Hughes biopic, The Aviator and the forthcoming remake of the Hong Kong thriller Infernal Affairs, called The Departed.

Worth Knowing
The unborn Leo gave his mum Irmelin a swift kick when she was looking at a painting by Leonardo Da Vinci. Hence the name.

Leo's first agent suggested he change his name to Lenny Williams because he thought Leonardo sounded too foreign.

He was offered the lead role in Alexander before Colin Farrell got a look in but turned it down for The Aviator. However, we haven’t quite missed out on seeing him play gay as he took a queer role in Total Eclipse, about the gay love affair between the poets Rimbaud-Verlaine, and “showed more than Colin Farrell shows in Alexander'!
 
Leo decided not to appear in violent movies after his 1995 film The Basketball Diaries was linked to the Columbine school massacre. The victims¹ parents claimed DiCaprio's character was influential in the actions of Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold.

He sued Playgirl magazine in 1998 and stopped them from publishing a picture of his meat and two veg!

After picking Leo up in a London pub Danish barmaid Linnea Dietrichson said he only lasted five minutes in the sack. Probably too busy thinking about the next supermodel he was going to shag if his reputation as a playboy supreme is to be believed.

He had an on-off, off-on, on-off relationship with the leggy Brazilian babe Gisele Bundchen and could also have given Carmen Electra and Mariah Carey a good seeing to depending on which gossip column you read. The chances of him having any time left to give the boys a look in are extremely slim. Oh well, in our imagination we can do (and think) whatever we like to him!
