Unskinny Bop is rapidly becoming everybody's favourite nightclub. A year after finding themselves a permanent home in London's Bethnal Green, DJs Tamsin and Ruth Bop (yes, they're girlfriends) have just gone monthly.

Unskinny Bop is the kind of place where the dancing's the thing, the crowd is friendly and the music is out of this world. Do yourself a treat and take yourself down there. Wanna know more? Here's Tam!

Where do you DJ?
At my club, Unskinny Bop and occasionally as a guest at other nights including Pottymouth and Club Motherf**ker. I've also been a DJ at post-gig parties for Le Tigre, Franz Ferdinand, Gravy Train and The Gossip.

How did you get started?
I started DJing at the end of my first year of university when my record collection proved a hit at people's birthday parties. I got decks for my 21 birthday and continued to DJ at places around Bristol, from skunk-smoking drum'n'bass dens to cheesy 80s nights.

I was also a regular visitor to London and in 1999 Debbie Smith gave me occasional slots at her night Club Deb at the Candy Bar, which then moved to the Liquid Lounge (now Sahara Nights) before eventually petering out at the Oak Bar.

I did a bit of DJing at Sahara Nights on Fridays pre-Popstarz and then started Unskinny Bop with my girlfriend at Ladyfest London 2002. We've been in our home at the Pleasure Unit in Bethnal Green for nearly a year now and are always available to hire for weddings and birthdays.

Where do you go clubbing when you're not behind the decks?
I like Duckie, Club Motherfucker, Sophisticated Boom Boom, Pottymouth, Lower the Tone, Soul Mole, Bootylicious and Misshapes.

What do you do in real life?
Watch a lot of Buffy, eat a lot of food and go travelling as much as possible. I'm an archives assistant, currently working with digital as opposed to paper records, and hope to qualify as an archivist before I get too old.

What's the worst DJ cliché in the world?
It's not confined only to DJ’s, but they are among the worst perpetrators: saying 'track' when you mean 'song.' For example, saying "Yur, that's a really great track!" whilst nodding one's head. I hate it! Songs are songs, they are not 'tracks'! I blame Jo Whiley.

Name five tunes that you'd like to play for us right now
Galang by MIA, Giddy Stratospheres by The Long Blondes, Dark Lady by Cher, Lay This Burden Down by Mary Love and Send Me A Postcard by Shocking Blue.

…And one that you'd never play in a million years
Roll With It by Oasis.

Anything else you wanna say?
Ciao!
