Question: If you were stuck on a desert island what would be the one essential item you couldn’t function without? Answer: Matthew Fox.

When David LaChapelle’s promotional posters for Lost hit billboards across the country last year we all knew that Wednesday nights would never be the same again. Out of the 14 ramshackle plane crash survivors the one who stood out head and shoulders above the rest was the hunky surgeon Jack Sheppard.

Foxy makes the thought of being stuck on a desert island seem like sheer bliss. But, with only a couple of episodes of the current series left (the second series goes out on Tuesdays on Channel 4 and E4), it’s time to get up close and intimate with the hunky survivor.

Name
Matthew Fox

Vitals
Born 14 July 1966 in Wyoming, USA

Alpha Male
Jack Sheppard is a modern day superhero. Benefactor of wisdom and paracetomol, he’s macho enough to chop down trees and beat up Sawyer, but totally in touch with his feminine side. Tough but tender Jack is basically your ultimate man.

When he repeatedly thumped Hobbit Charlie in the chest and brought him back from the dead there wasn’t a human on the planet who wasn’t prepared to go through a 36-hour labour just to give birth to the product of his seed. And did you see him punching the crap out of evil Ethan in episode 15 of series 1? I say sir; he just kept socking it to him, didn’t he?! I thought it was a job well done until that bloody Charley Charlie shot evil Ethan dead, meaning we’ll never know why Ethan was so evil in the first place!

Totty Watch thinks that all Hobbits should go back to Middle-Earth and stop getting in the way of Jack carrying out his alpha male-dom. In fact, maybe that’s where the island is! It must be somewhere out of this world because the fat bloke hasn’t lost any weight yet and they’ve been there for months with only bugs and the odd boar leg to gnaw on.

Anyway, Foxy was originally up for Sawyer’s role and was meant to die in the first episode. The producers saw sense, thank god, but someone is definitely going to snuff it before long. Luckily, Foxy has confirmed that it won’t be Jack.

Pre-Lost
Before getting lost, Foxy started out as a model for TV commercials. He appeared in a film called My Boyfriend’s Back in 1993, a spoof horror about a boyfriend who returns from the grave playing the part of a character called Buck van Patten! Before that he was playing a protective older brother for six years in Golden Globe winning teen drama Party of Five alongside Jennifer Love Hewitt and Neve Campbell.

Fox Fantastic
“I’ve been known to take my clothes off and go skinny-dipping at 2 o’clock in the morning after some cocktails, which I think in Hawaii is everybody’s right,” he told Advocate. So where do we strip off?

He told Glamour, “Any time I’ve done that with people in my life I wake up the next day, see those people and I feel a lot closer to them.” That does it. Totty Watch is on the first available flight.

“Jack’s very like me,” he told Grazia. “He’s the kind of guy I’d hang out with.”

“This show could easily do an eight-year run.” Here’s hoping.

Availability
Advocate asked Matthew if he thought Jack and Sawyer might get it on at some point and he said, “No, I don't think that'll be happening.”

Totty Watch isn’t so sure because Jack and Sawyer are always arguing over who’s the biggest cock in the jungle. Neither of them can make their minds up whether they fancy Kate or each other. Our money's on man-on-man jungle loving proving victorious in the end. There’s nothing like the great outdoors to convince “straight” men the only way forward is gay. Look what happened to Heath and Jake.
