Check out the Josh Holloway gallery
Fickle things that we are, this week Totty Watch is drooling over the polar opposite of Matthew Fox’s goodie two-shoes Jack with the ultimate bad boy of the jungle Josh Holloway – Lost’s sexy scoundrel Sawyer.
Oh Sawyer, let me be the fairy on top of your fir tree this Christmas and you can extort and exploit me as much as you like.
Name
Joshua Lee Holloway
Vitals
Born on 20 July 1969 in California, USA.
Lost and Found
Josh grew up in Georgia where he acquired his sexy Southern accent and is the second of four brothers. His first job was picking up dead chickens at a farm and then he moved on to modelling before joining the cast of Lost.
He might dislike the long hair he sports in the desert island drama, but the series has turned him into hot property. Only this year Josh was chosen as one of People magazines 50 Most Beautiful People in the World and when his sexy face appeared on the cover of TV Guide as part of a collectable series for the show, Josh outsold even Matthew Fox’s pretty boy pose.
A Saucy Southern Scallywag
Sawyer likes to play the bad guy. On dry land he makes a living swindling married women and no doubt his sweet Southern charms make unsuspecting infatuees that little bit easier to fool.
But Totty Watch reckons there’s a big fluffy bunny desperate to escape that hard, six-pack exterior. Unlike Locke, who’s favourite reading material is an instruction manual on how to make an explosive device from vine leaves and boar droppings, Sawyer has his nose in Watership Down at every available opportunity.
Okay, he did steal those little packets of complimentary peanuts from all the other passengers and he wouldn’t tell Evangeline Lilly, who plays Kate, where he’d hidden the asthma inhaler until she kissed him – hardly torture – but c’mon, it’s not exactly the behaviour of Saddam Hussein’s successor is it?
Sawyer is misunderstood and he hasn’t made many friends on the island, least of all Perfect Jack or Sultry Sayid, who gets my vote as the leading bad guy after he tied Sawyer to a tree and stuck bamboo reeds up his fingernails! Mystic Meg Locke is forever giving him cryptic advice, but he rarely takes any notice and Kate’s subtle scolding is usually greeted with a sneer and a saucy wink.
However there are signs in Series 2 that Sawyer’s inner bunny will be let loose and they’re going to turn him into – cover your ears – A Nice Guy.
“He has done some things that are not so Sawyer-esque,” says Josh. “He’s trying to help people, and people are responding differently to him. It’s too soon to let the (negativity and belligerence) go.”
As we thought, before we know it the producers at ABC will have Sawyer offering to do everyone’s laundry and baking muffins. If Josh wants Sawyer to stay a mean, lean, sarcastic machine then who are we to argue so that’s why we’ve decided to start the ‘Keep Sawyer Bad’ campaign. Signatures to the usual address please.
Availability
When Sawyer was convinced a wild boar had it in for him he packed a hefty tool and bounded through the jungle bare-chested like a modern day Tarzan in pursuit of his prey. It was one of the highlights of the series. Even better was watching him lazily drag his taut, tanned and testosterone-fuelled body out of the sea giving Kate an eyeful that we can only dream about.
In episode 16 Sawyer played a truth game with Kate and revealed that he’s never kissed a man before. A sorry state of affairs that we can only hope the writers will rectify tout suite when the love triangle between Sawyer, Jack and Kate hots up in Series 2.
Everyone will assume that Kate will be at the centre of any jungle loving, but that’s not what the Totty Watch jungle drums have been telling us. We predict that in the New Year Sawyer and Jack will iron out their differences with a long, hard shag on the beach overlooked by a glorious sunset. We all know they want to.
