Looking for an extra lift to get you though the long, cold months ahead? Thought so! Then look no further than this gem of a DVD that will have you alert, standing to attention and ready to embrace January and February with a smile on yourself and plenty of renewed vigour!
Following the hotly anticipated 2006 calendar, the French ruby team have now opened the doors of the locker room to give us a sneaky look behind the jock straps and musky scent of testosterone. Yes, it's The Making of the 2006 Dieux Du Stade Calendar with sexy footage of the lithe, toned and ultra-athletic French sportsmen as they strip off and get ready for their close-ups.
Plus, in order to keep the British guys keen, tingling and drooling in more than one place (!) there's some home-grown talent to feast your eyes on! Guys like Will Matthews (more on him below), Djibril Cissé and Alex Sanderson.
In total 36 unbelievable attractive guys show off their wares in various positions of undress. They cavort on and in huge double beds (unfortunately always alone but often with their pert arses tantalisingly in the air), lounge about on chairs, lean against mirrors, take showers and generally do whatever comes to mind.
The rugby players pose and flex their muscles as the camera seductively lingers with arty blank and white photography over their swollen biceps, prime rumps, erect nipples and sturdy thighs, while the ‘models’ seem to spend an lot of time rearranging their bulging packages.
One star grips a rolled up towel that’s been strung between his legs and over his groin like a dick substitute, while another beefy Adonis tosses his long locks but refuses to remove his skin tight, black boxer briefs. Fear not, the rest of them do (!), so there’s plenty of subtle nudity to go around!
All of the hunks have less than five minutes to perform, but some of the men definitely stand out, like blonde, 20-year-old UK favourite Will Matthews. He plays for Gloucester and has the perkiest abs I’ve ever seen! The camera loves to show them off and Will gamely stands there making them dance while he fondles a rugby ball between his legs.
Plus, you have to enjoy Vincent Clerc and Phillippe Spanghero (they both play for Toulouse) who decide to shoot together and “do it with my friend”. When they claim they’re only doing the calendar for the girls, you can’t help but laugh as their finished pictures make them look like their sharing longing, stolen glances across the locker room floor!
Apart from playing with different shaped balls – and boy, are they good at this – we never get to see any actual evidence of the guys’ rugby prowess. In fact, from the evidence on display here, all you need to be a top sportsman is to be gorgeous, have very little chest hair (although stubble is more than acceptable), keep it trimmed down below and have the ability to look rugged in a macho ‘I’m straight, but I like to be styled to within an inch of my buff, perfectly muscled life’ way.
Extras on the disc include a five-minute interview with the unbelievable handsome Julien Aries (his five minutes of seduction are definitely worth a fast forward look!), but far more essential is the eight-minute ‘best off’ section that crams all the guys into one luxury sandwich of totty and will definitely leave you satisfied.
In comparison with last year’s outdoors beach extravaganza - which saw the hunks cavorting in the sand dunes - this is duller stuff. The indoor studio images rely too heavily on iconic poses instead of the ruffty tuffty nature of the guys themselves. Studio shots are all very well, but it’s the natural buff nakedness of these hot guys that we want to see!
Saying that, these guys are still gorgeous chunks of meat that I’d happily chow down on all night. So, although this is all tease and no real money shot, there can’t be many men you’d rather spend an evening with as they primp, preen and flex their muscles. Okay, so there are chiselled and pumped men appearing naked in some other kinds of videos, but they’re all R18s and we’re not allowed to sell them here!
In the end, perhaps the Dieux Du Stade DVD is best seen as a pre-match warm up to your own sweaty frolics. Just remember one thing - lathering up in the post game showers is essential! Now where did I put that biscuit?
