Highly addictive drama Prison Break might not be The Shawshank Redemption, but what it lacks in sentimentality it makes up for in abundance with hardcore beefcake hot to trot through those prison bars and onto our TV screens every Monday night.
Tattooed from head to toe, gorgeous Wentworth Miller deliberately got himself sent to jail just so he could escape again. That might take a while, so in the meantime Totty Watch gets banged up with television’s sexiest convict.

Master Plan
In Prison Break’s demented plot Wentworth plays construction engineer Michael Scofield. He robs a bank at gunpoint so that he can join his brother Lincoln - who’s awaiting execution for the murder of the Vice President’s brother - in jail and then bust them both out.
“The show is completely preposterous. But that aside, it’s a great ride,” says Wentworth. We bet.
Jailhouse Cock
Michael will do anything to get his brother out of prison. He had the blueprints of the prison tattooed onto his body, his little toe has been ‘Bobbited’ by the prison’s mobster boss and he narrowly escaped the enticing offer of being the gimp of a scrawny little inmate called Teabag.
Spurred on by the incredulous fact that Michael’s managed to dig a hole big enough for him and his sexy Latino cellmate to climb through with a 4-inch nail, he faces his biggest challenge yet. If he can get through the next wall, he can get into the prison’s pipe system and then into the infirmary and then into the outside world. There’s a big problem though. He only has a whisk to do it with.
It’s one step forward and two steps back when Teabag discovers Michael’s hole and wants in on the escape plan, plus the mysterious woman who spends the whole time chopping vegetables whilst instructing her FBI henchmen who to dispose of next is actually the Vice President.
How many episodes are there going to be we wonder?!! Let’s get real here, Michael will be eating gruel for so long it’s only a matter of time before he’s dropping soap in the showers at every available opportunity. Even Stacy Keach wouldn’t look too bad after a few years in solitary confinement.
Stuck in prison doing the same routine day in, day out Michael’s monotone voice and one facial expression is equally resistant to change. His only concern is fulfilling his mission. Totty Watch likes a man who knows what he wants and is determined to get it. In our eyes Michael is a Modern Day Knight in Shining Armour (MoDKISA).
Blue is the Colour
After small parts in Buffy and ER Wentworth’s first big break came when he played a young version of Anthony Hopkins in The Human Stain. Wentworth is bi-racial – a mixture of Black, Jamaican, English, German, French, Dutch, Syrian and Lebanese descents – and his character passes himself off to society as a Jewish White Man when in truth he’s a light-skinned African-American.
Wentworth knows what it’s like to be considered different to everybody else. “My experience is that I find myself having to constantly define myself to others, day-in, day-out,” he says.
“The quote that’s helped me the most through that is from Toni Morrison’s Beloved where she says, ‘Definitions belong to the definers, not the defined’ – so I find myself defining myself for other people lest I be defined by others and stuck into some box where I don’t particularly belong.”
Availability
Mariah Carey was one the first to spot Wentworth’s charms and cast him as her lover in two of her music videos – ‘It's Like That’ and ‘We Belong Together’ – last year. It’s unlikely though that Wentworth would go for the tantrum fond diva.
“My rule is that you’ve got someone with both feet on the ground,” he says. “When you start acting crazy, they throw up their hands and take you for what you are and be accepting.”
Totty Watch would happily live a life on the run with an ex-con like Wentworth.
