We’ve decided that it’s our responsibility to provide you gay boys with a regular dose of top boy totty. This week we get down for a spot of Lycra suit wearing, web spinning action with cutie Tobey Maguire. Can you resist the charms of a hero who swings his way around the city? Thought not.

If you like pale, skinny, googly ones - then Tobey is your man! Read our review of Spider-Man 2.

Name
Tobias Vincent Maguire

Famous for
Tobey’s first steps into the world of stardom included bit parts in American comedy heavyweights, Blossom and Roseanne. He played a dead kid in Jake and the Fatman before landing a role in a sitcom Great Scott! The show lasted 9 weeks before being shelved.

Tobey moved into film work with a part in Woody Allen’s Deconstructing Harry in 1997 and Pleasantville in 1998. His foot firmly in the door, Tobey went on to land a part in the hugely successful and award winning film adaptation of John Irving’s The Cider House Rules.

Tobey’s next project, Wonder Boys, saw him cast as a sexually confused student who just happens to wind up in bed with Robert Downey Jnr. – nice work if you can get it!

However it was the 2002 blockbuster Spider-Man film that made him a player in Hollywood. As his character catapulted his way across the New York skyline in a rather tight suit, his career went straight to the top. The 2003 horseracing epic, Seabiscuit also helped his cause.

Vitals
Tobey was born on 27 June 1975 in Santa Monica, California. He has blue eyes and is a bit of a whiz at Yoga. Apparently he can get his legs up behind his ears – husband material alert!

Worth knowing
Tobey is one fit cookie and worked out solidly for this role in Spider-Man. He spent five months locked in a routine of gymnastics, martial arts, yoga and cycling.

He doesn't do the 'fame' thing very well. "People get my autograph and sell it and it really pisses me off. If I don't sign, they say nasty things, like 'Fuck you, fuck Spider-Man, I hope it bombs.' I heard one guy say the worst thing. Alicia Silverstone was there and he said to her, 'I hope your dog dies.'"

Tobey very nearly didn’t make Spider-Man 2. After reports that he was being "difficult" over the shooting schedule Sonly apparently lost patience with him and replaced him with Jake Gyllenhaal. However, his girlfriend’s father convinced him that he was making a mistake and helped Tobey win back the Spidey role.

Tobey initially intended to be a cook, like his father, but his mother, who had acting ambitions of her own bribed him into taking acting lessons by offering him $100.

Availability
He's always been very shy about his private life but it is common knowledge that he's been dating Jennifer Meyer, daughter of Universal Studios chief Ron Meyer, for the past year. Personally, we’re still clinging to the Robert Downey Jnr. coupling!
