My Name is Paul Evans I am Convenor of N.A.G! No Attitude Guys! was formed in the early 90’s with the intention of raising funds to assist and support groups within the Gay and Lesbian Community since NAG!s inception, regular events have been held each year.
These events have included SlaveMarket, Mooning held in January 2009 and many other events over the years if you can’t be a slave this year come bare your butt at Mooning
This year’s SlaveMarket will be held on Saturday 20th September @ The Laird Hotel 149 Gipps Street Abbotsford Melbourne Australia and is proud to be part of
The Melbourne Leather Pride Festival
Bidding begins around 9:30 so get there early
It’s a fantastic event where many Slaves volunteer their time and service to the punters in attendance at The Laird Hotel who are bidding for them, and with each Slave, we have many donated items from Leather Good’s, Interstate trips, Electrical goods and many other Item’s.
So come along and support people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) who are experiencing financial hardship
We also have a fantastic Raffle this year first prize is a Honda Scoopy Scooter donated by Scotterama, on the corner of Brunswick Street and Alexandra Pde Fitzroy it just shows how a ‘out their’ company has such respect for the Gay and Lesbian Community we thank them for their fantastic donation, if you don’t win this fantastic prize go visit Scooterama and see this fantastic Gay friendly company, and to our many other Sponsors we ‘Thank You’ for your support over the many years we have been doing fundraisers.
Without the community support over the past 18 years this community based fundraising group would not have raised around $ 278,000 with 100% of all many going directly to the charity
This money donated over the years has been distributed to such groups as The Gay and Lesbian Switchboard, The North and South Drop In, Paws (Pets Are Wonderful Support, The Gay and Lesbian Archives, The Alfred Hospital, Ward 7 and for many years now The David Williams Fund.& the North and South Drop in, a little about were your donations are going to.
The David Williams fund was established to provide emergency financial assistance to people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) who are experiencing financial hardship, for hundreds of PLWHA living below the poverty line, this fund is their lifeline.
It was established in 1986 in the memory of and by the friends and family of David Williams and is a project of The Victorian Aids Council / Gay Men’s Health Centre.
Not only does it assist with basic essentials, such as food, shelter, and utilities, but it also strives to assist with items that enhance life quality in a way that most people take for granted.
For example:
· Assistance with the purchase of a video or TV has greatly improved the day to day enjoyment of people who are too sick to leave their house.
· Assistance with re training has enabled people to return to the work force, increasing self esteem and confidence.
· Assistance with burial costs has allowed people to maintain a sense of dignity while burying the ones they love.
· Contributing to the purchase of a fridge has prevented people from having to live out of a esky and compromising their health
None of this would have been possible without the compassionate support from all the people who have so generously contributed to the fund over the year
